Case Carlos N

Carlos has no relatives in Mexico. His only close relative resides in his home country. He was imprisoned under countless irregularities and is now detained in Pacho Viejo, Coatepec, Veracruz, awaiting trial scheduled for November 2024. 

(Excerpt from communication between Carlos’s sister and Javier B., initiated on August 23)

"Good afternoon, Javier. My name is Gabriela. I am supporting my brother, who is in a very similar situation to yours. Beyond the tremendous experience of having an innocent person detained, my brother's situation is quite complex because I am abroad, and he has no family in Mexico. His only family were his daughters, and he stayed in Mexico for them despite being alone and the mother refusing to let him see them."

"On July 10, 2023, he was arrested without warning... it’s all very suspicious. The current partner of his ex-wife works in the prosecutor's office. My brother was fighting for visitation rights in civil court, and on January 19, 2023, if she failed to present their daughter in court, she would be detained. She didn’t appear, and on January 21, she filed a complaint with their eldest daughter alleging inappropriate touching. The accusation is so inconsistent that I still don’t understand how my brother is in prison."

“In the same investigation file it appears that when her daughter underwent the medical examination, the day she made the complaint, she was beaten, but my brother had not seen her for a long time. You asked me what we are afraid of, because my brother published a video that went viral in “No more hostage children” and another in “Birthday without you.” That was on July 3, 2023. Six days after that they arrested him.”

“I honestly didn't believe much in parental manipulation but my brother was threatened for years by his ex that she was going to report him for abuse; There are even talks that demonstrate this. Talks that according to the lawyer were of no use. Until in the end her ex managed to get her daughter to say that the father touched her to fulfill the objective of having him in jail and so that he would no longer see his girls."
